Exton, PA – September 29, 2003 : Automation Applications Inc, LLC (AAI) saved Canfor Corporation Northwood Pulp Mill of Prince George, BC C$658,000 with its Powerhouse Energy Management Control System during the first month of the system’s operation.  This system reduced the expense of natural gas and conserved this resource by 40% as compared to the same month in 2002.

Canfor, a leading integrated forest products company based in Vancouver, BC, selected AAI's Powerhouse Energy Management System, which includes coordinated header pressure control, boiler load allocation, and turbine load allocation, for two hog fuel boilers and two steam turbine generators at the Northwood Mill.  Supervisory control over an existing system is provided by AAI’s advanced control package.

"AAI delivered a robust solution to meet Canfor’s energy management needs”, said Stephen Hilder, Project Engineer, Canfor Corporation. “They provided a systematic and straightforward package with integrated advanced controls that worked with our existing system.  Best of all, the savings realized by this investment significantly exceeded our expectations."

"The Powerhouse Energy Management System delivers the most dynamic optimization solution available in the industry”, remarked David Pasciolla, President, AAI.  "As a result of this system, Canfor's Northwood Mill, a world-class facility, will solidify its competitive position."
