Power & Recovery Projects

Recovery Boiler Optimization - Provided turnkey system design and engineering, implementation, start-up, and optimization of DCS based Advanced Control System for Recovery Boiler Process. System replaced existing manual and single loop control to give process throughput and efficiency improvements and under one year ROI.

Power Boiler Optimization - Provided control system design, configuration, and integration of Bark Boiler Control System. Project featured AAI's Dual Master multi-fueled boiler optimization strategy to optimize boiler efficiency and enable the boiler to burn bark almost exclusively while maintaining steady steam output.

Power & Recovery Optimization - Completed design and implementation of all control systems for Green Field Pulp Mill including Power Boiler, Recovery Boiler, Lime Kiln, Pulp Machine, Bleach Plant, and Continuous Digester. Systems based on combination of DCS and PLC architectures.

Powerhouse Tie Line and Load Shedding Controls - Completed turnkey design, engineering, and implementation of DCS based control system providing Load Shedding and Tie-Line Control. System implemented as part of increase in co-generation capacity. Detailed reporting package provided.

Powerhouse Energy Management - Provided system design that included header pressure coordination control, boiler load allocation, turbine load allocation, tie line control and load shedding. Implemented utilizing AAI Constraint Controls. Project also included dynamic process simulation for advanced process control and operator training.

Process Projects

Pulp Stock Preparation Control System - Turnkey project included construction, installation and control system engineering. Provided complete control system design and hardware install. Project featured AAI's ACTTM Advanced Consistency Technique to improve pulp stock consistency and dilution control.

Pulp Stock Controls - Provided system design, configuration, programming, and start-up of DCS based system for Color Kitchen. System provided control of Batch Recipe and Blending process making dyes for paper. Included comprehensive recipe creation, editing, storage, and retrieval.

Lime Kiln Optimization - Provided control system design, configuration and integration. Project featured AAI's LKOSTM Advanced Lime Kiln Optimization System. LKOS utilizes a predictive model and enhanced user interface to improve lime quality, variation in residual carbonate, as well maintain emissions within regulatory limits.

Causticizing Optimization - Provided control system design, configuration and integration. Project featured AAI's Causticizing Advanced Optimization System. System utilizes a predictive model and enhanced user interface to improve green liquor quality, variation in quality, as well maintain emissions within regulatory limits.

Paper Machine Functional Specification - Developed functional specification for the modernization of paper machine - wet end. Included P&ID verification, hardware spec, control system recommendations and project justification.

Plant-Wide Network Project - Developed conversion routine which formats an existing database in Distributed Control System to format used by PI Historical Trending software program. Routine eliminated the need for re-keying points which are already within the system.

Bleach Plant Optimization - Provided control system design, configuration and integration. Project featured custom designed solution. System utilizes an enhanced user interface to improve variation in pulp quality and increase yield.
