Solutions Technology - Point Type Overview

The various supported point types are listed below. The point types are listed in order of execution. Tags within each point type are run in alphabetical order. Tag names may be changed without losing linkages within the data base. This enables processing order to be changed easily.
  • DDE I/O - Reads and writes to DDE compatible programs, i.e.. Excel, VisSim, MatLab, etc…
  • Device I/O - Reads and writes to third party systems via custom .dll drivers, ie. Wonderware.
  • ModBus Analogs - Reads and writes data to Modbus compatible devices, i.e.. GE Mark V, Modicon PLCs, EPCC and Flakt precipitator control systems, etc.
  • ModBus Digitals - Reads and writes to bit packed Modbus compatible devices.
  • PreCalc Blocks (General Function Blocks) - Inputs data to perform specific algorithms or calculations, such as: summers, multipliers, dividers, min, max, averages, etc. There are 50 or more algorithms.
  • Moving Averages - Maintains a Base, Long and Short Moving Average using up to 250 registers. Used for delaying or filtering signals, detecting signals from noise and building predictive models.
  • Fuzzy Memberships (7 Members) - Fuzzifies Analog inputs into as many as 7 distinct memberships functions that range from (0..1), such as "Too Cold", "Normal", "Too Hot".
  • Tunnel Controllers (7 Members) - Fuzzifies a single analog input into multiple memberships; typically, "Too Low", "Normal", "Too High". An incremental output is produced when the analog signal is not Normal. Multiple blocks may be chained together to form a multiple variable priority constraint or "tunnel" control system.
  • Fuzzy Matrix Controllers - supports up to 3 process inputs "fuzzified" with up to 7 memberships each to create a 1x2 to 7x7x7 matrix controller.
  • CalcBlocks (General Function Blocks) - Inputs data to perform required calculations.
  • Allocators - Economic Cost Load Allocators work together to create a dynamic state equation for multiple load allocation strategies. Used for multiple boiler load allocation, Steam Header Turbine Load Allocation and Multiple Air Compressor load allocation.
  • PostCalc Blocks (General Function Blocks) - Inputs data to perform required calculations.
  • Auto / Man Outputs - accepts an incremental or normal output and stores the signal to a destination. A mode switch allows the Operator to disable automatic control. He may manually enter output values.
  • AuxCalc Blocks (General Function Blocks) - Inputs data to perform required calculations
  • Data Array Points - Each point contains one hundred numerics, flags and string variables that are used to hold constants, data arrays and calculated results.
  • ModBus Ports - Specifies Port, Slave address and Baud Rates for two Modbus serial links.

A viewer is used to create or delete process tags. Any Tag.Parameter(Index) may be viewed and modified with this display. When invoked, the Viewer queries the Advanced Control Platform control server for the number of point types, point type names, tag names contained within specified point types, parameters, indexes and values.
